My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother is a Thai BL vertical drama about two stepbrothers who don't get along after a messy one-night stand. Their relationship gets worse when they're forced to work together.

My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother is a Thai BL vertical drama about two stepbrothers who can't stand each other. The main character's mom just remarried. His new stepdad is rich and has a son who works as a doctor. The protagonist quickly realizes his stepbrother is the same guy he hooked up with not long ago. Back then, they were random strangers. Suddenly, they're related. If that isn't messy enough, they also work at the same hospital.

The two leads of My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother have good chemistry. I like how comfortable they are with physical intimacy, particularly their juicy kisses. The short series is filled with steamy moments, so it's quite generous with the BL content. However, the story sucks. There's so much over-the-top melodrama. Every plot is ripped out of a bad soap opera. Also, the lead treats his love interest awfully. I can't forgive his nasty behaviour at the start.

About:

My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother is a dark & toxic Bl drama.

Plot

Pete is annoyed that he slept with Win.

Pete is a medical intern. He works part-time as a bartender to cover his expenses. His coworkers tease him that he can finally quit now that his mom has married a rich man. However, Pete knows the situation is way more complicated. Before the wedding, his mom gave him a heads-up. His new stepdad has a son named Win, who isn't thrilled about the marriage. In fact, he is convinced Pete's mom is only in it for the cash. She warns Pete to be careful around Win and not to do anything that might fuel that assumption.

During a late shift at the bar, things take a dark turn. A sleazy customer drugs Pete, planning to take advantage of him. Feeling dizzy, Pete manages to excuse himself and stumble into the washroom before anything worse happens. That is where he runs into Win. At that point, they don't know who the other person is. The drugs lower Pete's guard and crank up his boldness. He gets flirty. Too flirty. He kisses Win out of nowhere. Win is caught off guard by this stranger's confidence, but he doesn't pull away. In fact, he enjoys the moment. They end up spending the night together and have a very steamy hookup.

The next day, the drugs have worn off. Pete is spiralling. Sleeping with a guy for the first time wasn't how he imagined things going. Losing his virginity to a total stranger is bad enough. Doing it while not fully in control of his body or his head makes it so much worse. He confronts Win about last night. Win brushes it off and points out that Pete was the one who made the first move, so why is he acting like a victim now? Pete snaps, grabs a glass of water, and throws it right in Win's face before storming out. Win is furious. This one-night stand has turned into a mess.

Pete shows up at the hospital for his internship. He is late. Standing there in a white coat is Win. Not just any doctor, but the doctor assigned to mentor him. Win immediately tries to get Pete kicked out. He uses his lateness as proof that Pete is irresponsible. To Pete, this feels like pure retaliation for what happened last night. He demands a chance to actually do his job. Once they get to work, Pete is attentive to patients. Reluctantly, Win admits that he was wrong about Pete's professionalism. That said, the tension doesn't go away. They're still upset with each other.

Things go from messy to nuclear when Pete moves into the new house with his mom. That's when Pete and Win actually realize they're stepbrothers. Their parents are oblivious to their tension and just want their sons to get along. Win is already suspicious of Pete's mom and believes she married his dad for the money. Now, Win assumes Pete seduced him on purpose, like some master plan to sink his claws into the family fortune. He pulls Pete aside for a stern warning. Win makes it clear that he will not be fooled. He won't let Pete or his mom touch his father's money.

My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother Review

Review

Drama Review Score: 5.2

D
Pete and Win make out.

My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother peaks in the first few minutes. The leads are two random strangers who meet at the bar and hook up. They immediately jump into bed. We see them strip and kiss. Ooh yeah, their make-out session was pretty steamy! Okay, you've got what you came here for… It's time to stop watching. This BL drama did us all a favour by putting the smut at the start. Let's be honest, we're only here for the fanservice. There's no need to torture yourself with the rest of this crappy story.

WHAT!? You are watching a series called My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother for the plot??? What's wrong with you!? Ugh, fine. Let's talk about what happens after the first hookup. Once the characters find out they are stepbrothers and coworkers, the story goes downhill. Their relationship grows toxic due to the messy drama. This isn't some cute enemies-to-lovers arc. Nope. Win accuses Pete of being an evil gold-digging slut. Instead of staying professional at work, Win uses his power to make Pete's life miserable. It's not sexy. It's not entertaining. I felt uncomfortable with how nasty Win was behaving.

Not getting along with your new family member? Totally fair. But Win goes full psycho mode. When they first meet, he grabs Pete by the throat to threaten him. Let him go, you maniac! And the things Win says about Pete and his mom? So vile. Win thinks being promiscuous makes you an evil gold-digger who deserves to be treated like garbage. His attitude rubs me the wrong way. You'd expect a doctor to be more intelligent than this. Later, Win gets a redemption arc… But it's too little, too late. No amount of character growth is gonna make me forget his nastiness at the start.

Win and Pete's coworkers are raging homophobes who love stirring the pot. These characters are cartoonishly evil, like they wandered out of a bad soap opera. The writing doesn't understand subtlety. Almost every plot becomes ridiculously over-the-top. Someone is always scheming! Getting violent! Screaming at each other! The series thinks that without constant crazy antics and maximum drama, viewers might get bored. Newsflash: we're already bored because none of this feels realistic. In real life, most people show restraint. They don't just go fucking berserk.

My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother is a spicy BL drama. For a short series, it's packed with steamy moments between the leads. Both seem comfortable with physical intimacy, which shows in their great chemistry together. I like how they move their lips and bodies naturally during the kissing scenes. The actors also deliver decent performances, particularly the guy who plays Pete (Guitar). And his co-star (Seua) looks pretty damn cute in those glasses. Hate Win's character with a passion, but I can appreciate the whole hot doctor vibe. It's doing something for me!

If I ignored the plot, I might enjoy the juicy BL content. However, I can't root for this couple because of their unpleasant drama. Pete forgives Win too easily. He falls for the guy who was a dickhead to him not that long ago. Even if Win acts nicer near the end, I still see him as a walking red flag. I don't understand why these two are together beyond the fact that they're horny. They may have physical chemistry, but their emotional connection is weak. Overall, I disliked My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother. The iffy romance and awful storytelling have doomed this series.

Summary

Dramatic story

My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother becomes an over-the-top soap opera. It doesn't understand subtlety. It turns every storyline into a ridiculous mess. The plot is filled with drama from start to finish.

Unpleasant romance

I hated Win and Pete's hostility at the start. Instead of a fun enemies-to-lovers arc, Win's nasty behaviour makes the relationship toxic. While they have physical chemistry, their emotional bond is weak.

Decent acting

Both leads (Guitar and Seua) seem comfortable during the intimacy scenes. They have great chemistry together. I like the way they move their lips and bodies so naturally during the kissing scenes.

Happy ending

My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother has a happy ending. Win & Pete are getting along much better, but there was too much unpleasant drama earlier. Most of the series has been non-stop conflict.

Cheap artistry

I thought the bathtub scene looked decent. A few other moments were also filmed nicely. However, the vertical drama format ruins the viewing experience. It makes the entire production feel cheap.

52%

My Boss, My Love, My Stepbrother is filled with unpleasant conflicts and over-the-top melodrama. Despite the steamy moments, the lead can't redeem himself after mistreating his love interest.
