Love Truck is a Thai BL vertical drama about two strangers who meet while waiting for public transport. The main character usually drives to work, but his car has broken down. Suddenly, he's stuck taking a songthaew instead. While waiting at his new stop, the protagonist locks eyes with a handsome guy. He looks like the man of his dreams. Sadly, they have a lousy first impression of each other. Sparks are there, but so is the tension.
Unfortunately, Love Truck is a below-average BL romcom. It wants to be silly and lighthearted, but some jokes make me cringe more than they make me laugh. Thankfully, the actors are incredibly good looking! The eye candy helps me enjoy this drama more. They have a few sweet moments together, although their relationship stays very simple. By the end, I felt unsatisfied. I wish the story were longer so the romance could develop more deeply.

Plot

Leng is an adorable nerd. He's always glued to his phone, chatting away with his AI app, Deemini. Since Leng is painfully single, he asks Deemini for advice about his nonexistent love life. His digital companion stays wildly optimistic, insisting that a handsome boyfriend is coming his way very soon. According to the app, the man of his dreams will appear out of nowhere. Deemini even generates a photo of Leng with his fantasy boyfriend. Seeing himself with a hot guy puts a stupid smile on Leng's face.
Leng usually drives to work, but his car has broken down. Now, he's stuck using public transportation instead. Leng is already running late when he reaches the stop, just in time to watch his songthaew pull away without him. Great start to the day! As if things couldn't get worse, Leng turns around and immediately crashes into a stranger walking way too close behind him. The impact sends him straight to the ground. The guy, Thai, is holding a bottle of milk, which spills all over Leng. Late for work, knocked over, and now covered in milk. Truly a cursed morning.
Thai immediately apologizes. Once Leng actually sees the guy's face, he does a double-take. Wow! Thai is ridiculously good-looking! However, Leng is still too annoyed to appreciate the view. He snaps at Thai and yells at him for not watching where he was going. They depart on bad terms. Later, the guilt starts to creep in as Leng replays the moment in his head. He realizes that Thai looks an awful lot like the fantasy boyfriend Deemini generated for him. Now, Leng is left wondering whether he may have scared off the man of his dreams.
After yesterday's disaster, Leng decides he has to fix things. The next morning, he shows up at the bus stop early and lurks around. He hopes to run into Thai to apologize to him. When Thai arrives, he notices Leng is acting weird as hell. Thai asks what's going on with him. That question startles Leng, who loses his footing and falls down. In a last-ditch attempt to regain his balance, his arm flies out and grabs Thai's loose pants. They come straight down. Everything is exposed. Both of them are horrified by what just happened.

Love Truck Review
Review
Drama Review Score: 6.0

Love Truck is the second vertical drama from Dee Hup House. Their previous series, Screen Together, was a cute little romantic comedy. This one starts off in a similar lane. The first few episodes focus on silly antics, like Leng's AI app giving him hilariously bullshit responses. Leng also apologizes to Thai after a bad first impression, only for their relationship to become even more awkward. Pants on the floor. Dignity destroyed. Love Truck offers cheeky jokes and comedic mishaps without taking itself too seriously.
For me, Screen Together was funnier because its awkwardness felt charming. Spilling popcorn on someone? That's a mostly harmless scenario. Love Truck goes for more extreme comedy. Pulling someone's pants down in public? Yikes. That's way more humiliating and much harder to believe. Who accidentally strips someone? Also, Leng asks AI for a fake image of his fantasy boyfriend. If you think about it, his prompt is actually depressing. In Screen Together, I could just laugh at the simple gags. With Love Truck, the humour feels off. I'm cringing more than I'm laughing, and not in a good way.
Love Truck may not be as funny, but it's not like I sat there stone-faced the entire time. The episodes are short and cheerful, keeping the mood lighthearted. After the initial awkwardness, I enjoy watching the two leads get closer. Leng is a lovable nerd who likes Thai, the hot guy of his fantasies. He fumbles around his crush, which is adorable. Thai also shows interest in him, making their interactions even cuter. Aww, the attraction is mutual! Love Truck has sweet moments that tease their feelings for each other. The romcom fan in me wants them to become a couple!
Both leads give solid performances and have the charisma to make their characters endearing. Leng's actor (Heng) looks adorable in those glasses. He's like that shy nerd sitting in a computer lab, and I have a crush on him. His co-star (Thai) is really hot! My only question is, how does he see anything with those long bangs covering half his face? Together, they make a highly telegenic couple. I wanna see them star in another BL drama. Purely for eye candy reasons. Having these two gorgeous men in a hot makeout session would be life-changing. Oh, please let it happen!
Episode 4 caught me off guard. There's a moment of physical violence that I didn't expect from a cutesy BL drama. My jaw fully dropped. On one hand, this scene is shocking and memorable. It also makes the story more complex. On the other hand, it was triggering to watch. The lead gets attacked right after confessing his feelings for another man. This is supposed to be a light romantic comedy. I signed up for sweet gestures and harmless flirting, not violence against a gay character. In my opinion, that scene was too intense and clashed with the story's positive vibes.
Since Love Truck is a short drama, the relationship never gets enough time to develop into something meaningful. Leng and Thai clearly like each other, but their feelings stay very shallow. They don't go any deeper than "oh, he's cute and I like him." At least there's a happy ending. The couple drives off into the sunset together, which should feel sweet. Instead, I just sat there thinking… Is that it? That's all we get? In the end, Love Truck disappointed me. The whole story is too simple. It's a below-average BL romcom that doesn't fully deliver on the romance or the comedy.
Summary
Silly story
Love Truck is a simple romcom with silly humour. Some jokes land, but other moments make me cringe more than they make me laugh. Episode 4 has a violent scene that clashes with the cutesy drama.
Light romance
Yeah, there are some sweet moments between the couple. They flirt here and there. Still, the relationship stays surface-level. It never develops deeply enough to feel like a satisfying arc.
Charming acting
Both leads are charismatic and easy to like. Leng's actor (Heng) is cute, while his co-star (Tee) looks really hot. I want to see this telegenic couple get steamy in another BL drama.
Happy ending
Love Truck has a happy ending as the leads ride off into the sunset together. It should feel like a romantic moment, but I'm disappointed. I want more scenes to make me actually care about the couple.
Simple artistry
Everything appears bright and cheerful. The leads are styled well and look great on screen. However, the vertical drama ruins everything. I can't appreciate the visuals due to this limiting format.
60%
Despite a few sweet moments, Love Truck isn't a satisfying romcom. Some jokes make me cringe more than they make me laugh. The relationship isn't that deep, since the story is just too short.
