Screen Together is a Thai BL vertical drama about two strangers who meet at a cinema. The main character goes to see a movie by himself. However, he accidentally spills popcorn on the guy sitting next to him. After that awkward first impression, they start making light chit-chat. Surprisingly, the two of them are getting along quite well. The protagonist develops a tiny crush on his new friend and wonders if his feelings are mutual.
I went into Screen Together with low expectations. The short length and vertical film format don't inspire much confidence in me. Instead, it surprised me with a cute little romantic comedy that knows how to be funny, awkward, and sweet. The humour lands well, and the fanservice feels playful. The actors also deliver charming performances and share natural chemistry. I finish the series with a smile, even if I wish the story could have been longer.

Plot

Moun is watching a movie at the cinema by himself. Popcorn in hand, minding his own business, just waiting for the movie to start. Suddenly, a stranger interrupts him. Sun insists that Moun is sitting in the wrong seat. Feeling awkward, Moun apologizes right away. He gives up the seat without a fight and squeezes in next to him instead. While shifting over, Moun dumps his popcorn straight into Sun's lap. Mortified, he scrambles to clean it up, only to accidentally brush his hand a little too close to Sun's groin.
So now, Moun has no popcorn. He spilled the entire bag during the great seating disaster. Sun takes pity on him and offers to share his. As they start chatting, Moun admits that he recognizes Sun and follows him on social media. Sun recognizes him too. Moun is the guy who always likes his photos right away. Feeling embarrassed, Moun rushes to clarify that he isn't a stalker. He just happens to show up at the same cinema by coincidence. Please believe him. Moun admits he's out of his comfort zone. Normally, he wouldn't have the courage to watch a movie alone. This is his first time doing it.
Sun pulls out his phone and decides he wants to tag Moun in a recent photo. Moun hands over his account ID. Sun starts scrolling, clearly curious about what he will find. Moun casually reveals that he recently went to Hong Kong and stopped by Wong Tai Sin Temple to pray for love. Moun laughs it off and jokes that he wants to find someone to watch movies with. Sun admits his mum is just as superstitious and once bought him a bracelet for good fortune. Surprisingly, Moun has one too. Both of them are wearing matching lucky bracelets by pure coincidence.
Inside his head, Moun believes this is a sign. His prayer worked. The universe heard him loud and clear, gifting him with a romantic partner. Moun develops a tiny crush on his new friend. He starts getting hopeful, wondering if Sun might feel the same way. Just as the vibe turns cozy, another person plops down beside Sun. A total stranger jumps straight into friendly chit-chat. Sun is polite and replies back, but Moun secretly feels annoyed. This was supposed to be a two-person situation. Three is absolutely a crowd.

Screen Together Review
Review
Drama Review Score: 7.1

I went into Screen Together with low expectations. A vertical BL drama? Five episodes that are barely three minutes long? That combo usually screams cheap and rushed. And yet… Somehow…. Against my better judgment, I ended up liking it way more than I expected. Yes, it's low-budget. Yes, the format is limiting. Even if all of that is technically true, it still tells a cute little love story. I laughed at the funny scenes. I gushed over the romantic moments. And I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Screen Together.
Screen Together benefits from a sharp script. It's a well-written romantic comedy that never misses a beat. Moun and Sun meet under gloriously awkward circumstances. The secondhand embarrassment is so strong that I was laughing and cringing at the same time. As they grow closer, those interactions turn sweet. The series knows when to land a joke and when to sneak in a bit of fanservice. Best of all, it knows when to push things into naughty territory. I was also impressed by the creativity. Building a love story around two strangers sitting beside each other in a cinema? Not easy, but Screen Together pulls it off.
Both leads do a solid job. To be fair, this is a simple story that doesn't ask much of them. Smile sweetly. Make goo-goo eyes at each other. That's pretty much the assignment. Still, they sell every joke and romantic moment well enough to make the material work. I was especially happy to see Moun's actor (Green) back on screen. After years of popping up in guest spots, he can shine in another BL leading role. About time! He has good chemistry with his handsome co-star (Sunn). This pairing works for me. Hell yeah, give me more SunnGreen in another series!
As expected, Moun and Sun's romance is pretty shallow. It's sweet. It's funny. They bond as much as two strangers possibly can while watching a movie. But it feels like a cute first date and nothing more. I wanted to see what their love life looks like outside the cinema. Other BL series serve you a full feast. Multiple dates with emotional growth and falling hard for each other. This one? The vibe is very much "hehe, see you at the next movie date~" Don't get me wrong… They're still cute! Their simple relationship is just not the kind of epic romance that sweeps me off my feet.
The biggest issue with Screen Together is its lack of ambition. The creators played it safe by making a short drama in a vertical format. These choices scream low budget and low risk, implying they don't have full confidence in their own product. If they invest extra resources into the production, it would send a stronger signal to BL fans that the series is worth their time. They also need a longer story to continue Moun and Sun's romance outside the cinema. Let these boys exist in daylight! With a one-hour drama or longer, Screen Together becomes more of a memorable journey.
Screen Together wraps things up with a happy ending for our cinephiles. We get a sweet kiss and a promise to see each other again, which is exactly what you expect from a cute rom-com. Do I want more from them? Obviously! Imagine the couple cuddling at home with a film playing in the background… Give me an outdoor cinema moment where they sit under the stars… There are so many romantic possibilities. Instead, we only get the one date. Just one! Still, I walked away pleased with Screen Together. It left me smiling, and I finished the series feeling very positive.
Summary
Cute story
Screen Together pulls off a cute little love story. The plot seems simple, but it takes a bit of creativity to make two strangers fall in love at a cinema. The sharp writing makes many scenes enjoyable.
Sweet romance
Moun and Sun's romance is very sweet! They walked into that cinema as strangers. They leave together as boyfriends. Aww, isn't that cute? However, the simple relationship never becomes deeper.
Charming acting
Both leads handle the material well, even if the roles don't demand much range beyond smiling and making goo-goo eyes. Their natural chemistry helps sell the jokes and romantic moments well.
Happy ending
Screen Together has a happy ending for Moun and Sun. They leave the cinema with a kiss and a promise to meet again, which is what you want from a cute rom-com. I wish we could see more from them!
Uninspiring artistry
This series shows a lack of ambition by filming a short drama in a vertical format. The entire story takes place in a dark cinema, which isn't visually striking. I was uninspired by how everything looked.
71%
Screen Together delivers a cute love story that made me smile. The funny jokes and sweet moments are enjoyable. I wish it showed more ambition by telling a longer story and not filming it vertically.
