Fix the Error! is a Korean BL short series about a grim reaper on his first mission in the living world. Before earning his official qualifications, the main character must complete his training by collecting a human soul. However, he can't read the written instructions telling him who to take. After arriving in the human world, he meets two university students. As he tries to figure out which guy is his target, he ends up getting close to both of them.
Ooh, a grim reaper BL drama! Fix the Error sounds intriguing at first, but I quickly realized its ambitious premise was too much for a one-hour series. The story is riddled with plot holes, making it hard to take anything seriously. Even worse, it wastes a fascinating supernatural concept on a boring love triangle. Both relationships are underdeveloped. The lead has zero chemistry with anyone. It doesn't help that the cast delivers amateurish performances.

Plot

Jihan is a grim reaper training at Samdocheon Grim Reaper Academy. Unfortunately, he's on his eighth attempt to pass the Grim Reaper exam. His supervisor gives him one final mission to prove himself. All he has to do is visit the human world and bring back a dead soul within a few days. If Jihan succeeds, he can become an official reaper. If Jihan fails, he'll be stuck among the living forever. There's also another rule. He can't fall in love with a human. Any romance between a grim reaper and a mortal is strictly forbidden.
Jihan enters the human world with written instructions telling him whose soul to collect. What could possibly go wrong? Almost immediately, Jihan bumps into Jaehyun, a university student carrying an iced coffee. After their little collision, Jaehyun introduces himself as a sophomore studying visual design. Jihan quickly lies and pretends he's a freshman in the same department. Okay, nice meeting you! Now back to the mission, except there's a problem. That spilled coffee has soaked Jihan's instructions, making the writing impossible to read. Jihan can no longer see the name of the human soul he's supposed to collect.
Poor Jihan desperately tries to decipher the soggy instructions. He can make out a few characters in the name, but he isn't 100% sure what it says. Luckily, Jihan has a supernatural ability that lets him see everyone's birth names floating above their heads. He wanders around campus, searching for someone whose name might match the instructions. Eventually, Jihan spots a student named Hyunjun. Hmm, that looks pretty close! Just as Jihan thinks he has found his target, Hyunjun's friend Yunghun appears. Wait a minute… His name looks suspiciously similar too.

Hyunjun and Yunghun both have names that could match the ruined instructions, but Jihan has no idea which guy is supposed to die. Two potential candidates stand before him. Only one is marked for the Grim Reaper. Jihan tries contacting the underworld for help. His supervisor gave him a special phone for communication, yet nobody answers his calls. Jihan must solve the mystery on his own. His plan is to get close to both Hyunjun and Yunghun. Maybe if he hangs around them long enough, he'll figure out which one is his real target.
As luck would have it, Hyunjun is also a sophomore studying visual design. That's convenient since Jihan already lied about being in the same department! Their fake connection gives them an excuse to hang out. Yunghun is a taekwondo student who tags along with his buddy, so he gets closer to Jihan as well. One day, Yunghun goes looking for Hyunjun and finds Jihan alone in a classroom instead. During their chat, he asks Jihan to design a logo for his extracurricular club. Jihan isn't actually a design student. Still, our fake freshman pulls it off! Yunghun loves the finished logo, giving them another reason to get closer.
Jihan is homeless in the human world. With nowhere to live, he resorts to sleeping on some chairs in the university lobby. Hyunjun and Yunghun discover their new friend looking uncomfortable. Yunghun wants to help and realizes Hyunjun lives alone near campus. Hey, free housing! Hyunjun isn't thrilled about inviting some random guy into his home. Yunghun pressures his friend to help a junior. After some reluctance, Hyunjun agrees to let Jihan move in. Now these two are suddenly roommates! They spend more time together and bond over their school assignments.

Fix the Error Review
Review
Drama Review Score: 5.0

Fix the Error got a strong reaction out of me instantly. The moment I heard the words "Grim Reaper Academy", I was excited. A BL drama about a grim reaper? Ooh, that's so damn creative! Hell yeah, I'm intrigued! But then, reality kicked in… This series is only an hour long. It comes from a small studio with limited resources. Suddenly, this cool supernatural premise felt too ambitious. You need time to explain how the fantasy world works and still build a compelling romance. That's a lot to cram into such a tiny series.
A grim reaper BL drama has so much potential! Imagine all the fun you could have with a supernatural character who has never experienced life among humans. Instead, the series does nothing interesting. Jihan acts like an ordinary student who's stuck in a boring love triangle. Where's the fantasy? Where's the excitement? And don't get me started on the plot holes. Jihan has never visited the human world before. Yet, he walks onto campus and attends classes without being enrolled. Umm, hello? Why does everyone accept this random stranger without asking questions? The writing doesn't care about making any of this believable.
Hyunjun and Yunghun barely know Jihan, yet both guys catch feelings for him so quickly. I get that there's only an hour to tell the story, but you can't rush the relationship development. It doesn't help that these characters have painfully awkward interactions. Here's an example of what passes for flirting. Hyunjun asks, "Can you design a logo for me?" Jihan replies, "Um, okay." How am I supposed to get invested in a romance when the couple can't hold a conversation? The series wants us to believe there's an instant love connection, but I don't feel any sparks.
Annoyingly, there's a love triangle… *groans* Fix the Error can't even develop one relationship properly. Why are we juggling two at once!? Jihan lacks chemistry with either guy. He kisses Hyunjun. Whatever. Then, he kisses Yunghun. Meh, still not feeling it! Jihan and his love interests have no meaningful connection. Yet, the story insists he must choose someone because… duh, this is a BL drama! Even when the main couple gets together, I don't think they're a good match. But would I have preferred the alternative? Nope, that romance is just as dull as dishwater.
The lead (Kan Hyeon Bae) tries his best, but his expressions and mannerisms feel awkward. Hyunjun's handsome actor (Lee Hyeon Jun) looks half-asleep in every scene. Give us a smile! Let's show some emotion! Only Jaehyun's performer (Kwak Geon Hee) brings some much-needed energy to the series. Interestingly, half the cast consists of former gay dating show contestants. In theory, I love seeing gay actors get opportunities to star in BL dramas. At least they seem comfortable with kissing guys on camera. But can we put more emphasis on the "acting" part?
The finale is a mess. That's what happens when you tell an overambitious fantasy story and try to wrap up everything in the last few minutes. You won't have enough time to squeeze in a satisfying conclusion. The most frustrating part is seeing all the wasted potential. The original premise is interesting, but it needed longer episodes and a bigger production budget (…oh, and a few acting lessons). Instead, Fix the Error feels embarrassingly amateurish. This series doesn't deserve a good score just because it has a cool idea. You still gotta know how to execute it well!
Summary
Unbelievable story
A grim reaper BL drama sounds so damn creative, but Fix the Error wastes its fascinating premise on a boring university storyline. This series has so many plot holes that nothing feels believable.
Lifeless romance
Jihan barely knows his two love interests, yet both guys are suddenly falling for him. Their awkward interactions have zero romantic chemistry. I don't care about either relationship.
Stiff acting
Most of the cast gives awkward performances. The lead (Kan Hyeon Bae) doesn't seem natural on camera. Hyunjun's actor (Lee Hyeon Jun) is particularly stiff and shows no emotion.
Happy ending
Fix the Error has a happy ending. Jihan doesn't complete his mission, but he still ends up okay. The finale tries to wrap up everything in the last few minutes, leaving us with a rushed conclusion.
Amateurish artistry
This series is made by a small studio, which doesn't have the resources to bring the fantasy world to life. The production feels amateurish, especially in the cinematography department.
50%
Fix the Error has a fascinating supernatural plot, but the lousy execution wastes all that potential. The love triangle is totally unnecessary. Jihan has zero chemistry in either relationship.
