Please, Yes is a Korean BL series about two siblings who live together. The main character feels irritated with his younger sister and sees her as a freeloader. She gets on his nerves by bringing her friends to the house. Surprisingly, the protagonist connects with one of the guests. Every visit brings them closer. However, he grows self-conscious about their age gap and his same-sex attraction. Even if there's a mutual spark, he dismisses his feelings.
As long as your expectations stay modest, you may enjoy the pleasant romantic fluff in Please, Yes. This simple love story offers an hour of lighthearted relationship drama with a low-stakes plot. In particular, I enjoyed the sassy banter between the siblings. However, there isn't much depth. The plot is thin, while the characters have no memorable traits. I feel indifferent toward the couple and their basic romance until the last few episodes.

Plot

Suhyeon is a student who has lived on his own for the past few years. His mother covers the cost of his place in the city, although he contributes to the maintenance fee. Six months ago, his younger sister Seunghyun moved in. The siblings constantly get on each other's nerves living under the same roof. Suhyeon sees his sister as a freeloader. Seunghyun gets sassy with him and insists the home belongs to her as much as it does to him.
Seunghyun often brings her friends over to hang out around the house. They talk noisily and play loud music, which irritates Suhyeon. One morning, he wakes up to so much ruckus in the living room. When he confronts her, she still shows no remorse. The two siblings argue about house rules, but neither backs down.
Lately, Suhyeon has been in a foul mood because of a recent breakup. His ex-girlfriend, Eunyoung, ended their relationship via text message. Seunghyun notices her brother's moodiness and teases him for getting dumped again. However, her friend Eunho perks up at the news. He seems excited that Seunghyun's attractive older brother is newly single and open to dating again.
Eunho properly introduces himself to Suhyeon and apologizes for the earlier noise. He asks for permission to hang out at the house, and Suhyeon agrees. During later visits, Eunho always makes an effort to chat with him and stays for meals. Sometimes, Seunghyun isn't even home, but Eunho still drops by to see Suhyeon. Suhyeon later gossips with his friend Seungjun, who believes a romantic connection might be forming. Seungjun points out how Eunho is clearly flirting with him, yet Suhyeon doesn't resist these advances.
Seunghyun notices her brother's awkwardness and asks Eunho to stop visiting the house. Absence makes the heart fonder, and Suhyeon secretly admits that he misses Eunho's company. He considers the possibility of developing feelings for Eunho, although several insecurities hold him back. Firstly, Suhyeon worries about dating his sister's friend. Secondly, he feels uneasy about their age gap. He's five years older and sees Eunho as a kid. Thirdly, Suhyeon is self-conscious about his same-sex attraction. He has never fallen for a guy before.

Please, Yes Review
Review
Drama Review Score: 6.9

Please, Yes will appeal to fans who like cute, lighthearted romantic fluff. The series is enjoyable for its simple love story with a low-stakes plot, allowing you to switch off your brain and watch something wholesome. Feeling mentally exhausted lately? Here you go, an hour of relaxing BL therapy! None of the episodes will stress you out. While there's some tension, the conflicts never become too aggravating. You'll be pleased to know the couple's relationship drama gets resolved without dragging on.
Unfortunately, Please, Yes isn't very complex. This BL drama keeps each episode short and sweet, but the price of that simplicity means sacrificing depth. The plot is thin. It's coasting on an hour of light relationship drama without exploring deeper storylines. Also, the characters lack substance. They never expand beyond their archetypes of "older brother", "younger sister", or "sister's friend". Can we learn more about their lives or interests? Nope and nope. What about their…? Nope, there's nothing. These generic protagonists have no memorable traits, making it difficult for us to connect with them.
The romance feels too basic. From the very first moment, Eunho already has a crush on Suhyeon without any real interaction. Love at first sight isn't an exciting romantic arc, and it diminishes the fun of watching someone catch feelings over time. Suhyeon takes longer to embrace the relationship. He's self-conscious about their age gap, his same-sex attraction, and the fact that Eunho is his sister's friend. These storylines have the potential to be interesting, but the series wastes the material. Suhyeon overcomes his insecurities quickly, so the journey seems unremarkable.
My favourite part of Please, Yes has nothing to do with the romance. I'm indifferent toward the couple's relationship moments, but I adore the interactions between the siblings. Suhyeon gets sassy with his sister, Seonhyun teases her brother, and their banter is always delightful. I perk up whenever Seonhyun appears, because mischief will follow. I wish Please, Yes had developed the BL and GL content equally. He finds a boyfriend, she also has a girlfriend, and both leads stay involved in each other's plots. Their family drama would have offered richer storytelling options.
Suhyeon's actor (Cho Myeong Gyun) is blessed with modellesque good looks. Although this drama has a low-budget production with blurry visuals, his attractiveness remains as clear as crystal. Regrettably, he appears stiff on camera, serving a handsome face without much range in his expressions. Hs costars always outshine him in terms of emoting or bringing enthusiasm. My favourite is Seonhyun's fabulous actress (Kim Yi Young), who adds warmth and charisma to her scenes. SUKFILM should get a pen and contract ready to secure her for the studio's next GL series!
During the first half of the series, I didn't care about Suhyeon and Eunho's relationship. The later episodes contained lighthearted romantic fluff, which helped me appreciate the couple. While their connection isn't particularly strong, this love story seems inoffensive. There are a few charming moments, several cozy kisses, and enough sweetness to make me more generous with my review score. Overall, Please, Yes lacks substance and can't compete with complex dramas. As long as your expectations stay modest, the one hour of pleasant BL romcom may warm your heart.
Summary
Simple story
Please, Yes follows a light, low-stakes plot without much complex drama. The story stays pleasant, but there isn't enough depth. Even the generic characters have no memorable traits.
Lighthearted romance
I didn't care about the couple in the first half of the series. Their romantic arc leaves me indifferent. The last few episodes contain lighthearted BL fluff, which help me appreciate the relationship more.
Decent acting
Suhyeon's actor (Cho Myeong Gyun) looks striking on screen, but his performance feels stiff. He gets outshined by his costars, who always bring more charisma and enthusiasm to their scenes.
Happy ending
Please, Yes has a happy ending. Thankfully, the couple's relationship drama doesn't drag on for too long. The last few episodes coast on pleasant relationship fluff until the end.
Basic artistry
As usual, this studio's production values are low-budget. The visuals continue to be blurry as hell. I also recognize the same few filming locations: the bedroom, the living room, the cafe, etc.
69%
Please, Yes is a sweet but shallow BL romcom that favours simplicity over depth. Don't expect a meaningful story or interesting characters, but you may still find the romantic fluff pleasant.
