It's You, Only You is a Thai BL short movie about a main character who's obsessed with playing video games. He neglects his relationship and gets irritated whenever his boyfriend nags him. After receiving a mysterious message, he suddenly finds himself in a new timeline. His partner looks the same, but he has a totally different personality. He doesn't even feel like the same person anymore. The protagonist must try to get used to these changes.
I liked the creative premise behind It's You, Only You. There are many funny scenes where the lead character meets exaggerated versions of his boyfriend. Both actors do a great job with their performances, injecting so much personality into the movie. Beneath all the wacky antics, the story also has a positive message. However, there's a lack of a romantic spark between the couple. I wish the film tried harder to include more BL moments.

Plot

Bam and Jess are a couple who live together. Lately, Bam has been glued to a mobile game. He plays it all day and night. Jess tries to interrupt him, telling his boyfriend that dinner is ready. He even cooked Bam's favourite food. Bam doesn't want to stop playing, not even for a meal. Jess keeps asking him to eat together, and Bam only grows more irritated. In the end, Jess gets fed up with his partner and eats alone.
Suddenly, Bam gets a strange call on his phone. The caller offers him a new version of his boyfriend. Bam has no idea what that means. Before he can question it, Bam is dropped into a new timeline. Once again, Jess knocks on his door and asks him to eat together. This time, something feels off. Jess is wearing glasses and speaking in a softer voice. He's more patient. Jess even offers to feed Bam while he keeps playing his game. Bam is left completely confused by this dramatic change in his boyfriend's personality.
Although Bam enjoys being doted on, he isn't used to it either. He keeps wondering why Jess is acting so out of character. The behaviour feels unsettling. Then, without warning, Bam is dropped into yet another timeline. Once again, he's back in his room. Another version of Jess knocks on the door and asks him to eat together. This time, Jess is overly excitable, all smiles and energy as he drags Bam toward the table. By now, Bam is completely confused. He has no idea what is happening to him or his boyfriend.

It's You, Only You Review
Review
Movie Review Score: 6.8

It's You, Only You has a clever concept for a short movie. What if your annoying boyfriend came in multiple flavours? Bam gets thrown into new timelines where Jess becomes a different person. At first, Jess is wildly excitable. Then, he turns into a total badass. There's even a timeline where he gets really horny. The fun is watching Jess crank each personality up to cartoonish levels while Bam reacts like, what the hell is happening to my life!? Soon, I'm laughing along at the wacky storyline and looking forward to the chaos.
It's You, Only You already has a fun idea, but it could have pushed the premise even further. Is it clever? Yeah. Is it truly groundbreaking? Not yet. We only ever see Bam and Jess at home, going over the same dinner scenario. I wanted the story to poke at other parts of their lives rather than stay glued to the dining table. I know this is only a 20-minute short film, which limits what it can do. If this were a longer drama, it could have gone off the rails in the best way possible. Let each version of Jess run wild and squeeze every last drop out of the concept. Give me more complexity! Give me more chaos!
Despite the creative premise, the movie rushes the beginning. It suddenly yanks us into the multiverse with five alternate versions of Jess. Yeah, these caricatures are entertaining! They have funny habits and ridiculous quirks. However, the original character is underdeveloped. We know almost nothing about Normal Jess, so these other personalities just feel like random costumes the actor is trying on. The story seems gimmicky, focusing too much on the wacky scenes. Instead, let's spend more time introducing the real couple and make us care about them first.
The movie is a fantastic showcase for Jess's actor (Tang-oh). This man gets to play six versions of the same boyfriend, and he goes all in on every single role. Each Jess feels like a distinct person, so the mannerisms are completely different. You want swagger? Nailed it! You want seduction mode? Oh, he delivers that too. Watching him jump between these personalities is impressive! His co-star (Goove) holds his own as the constantly shocked Bam. He looks baffled by everything around him. Those confused reactions are gold, making the film more lighthearted.
For most of the movie, I never felt a romantic spark between Bam and Jess. In the original timeline, they just annoy each other. Not exactly couple goals. The early versions of Jess are funny to watch, but they feel more like comedy sketches than romantic partners. It isn't until Flirty Jess shows up that things get steamy. That version brings some sexual tension to the table. Finally! The ending also shows more tenderness between the leads. But even then, the BL content still feels too light. I kept wishing the movie would make the romance a more important part of the story.
It's You, Only You has a positive ending. Bam returns to the original timeline and realizes his boyfriend wasn't so bad after all. Turns out the grass isn't always greener when you jump through multiverses to find a fantasy version of your partner. I like how the movie offers a simple truth about relationships, teaching us to pay attention to our loved ones. Cherish those who care about us and stop taking them for granted. It's sensible advice dressed up in a silly story. Overall, It's You, Only You is a creative short film with a sweet message at its core. I'm really glad I watched it!
Summary
Clever story
It's You, Only You starts with a clever premise, making us laugh with the multiverse nonsense. Watching Jess's extreme personalities is funny! I just wish the story would explore its concept even more.
Basic romance
I didn't sense a romantic spark for most of the film. The scenes might be funny, but they aren't sweet. Only one version of Jess brings any sexual tension. The story leaves me wanting more BL content.
Playful acting
Tang-oh has a blast switching between six wildly different versions of Jess. He makes each persona seem unique! His co-star (Goove) adds to the comedy with his constantly overwhelmed reactions.
Happy ending
It's You, Only You has a happy ending with Bam learning to cherish his relationships more. I like the movie's positive messages. It offers a sweet moral lesson wrapped in a funny story.
Quirky artistry
Coming from a low-budget studio, the film lacks style and artistic flair. Everything still looks okay, for the most part. I like how they dress up Jess differently each time, giving him a quirky appearance.

It's You, Only You is a creative short film with a clever premise. I love how the actor portrays six funny versions of the same character. I just wish the romance could be a more important part of the story.
