Peach Lover – Series Review

Po is a freelance artist who designs book covers. He creates the graphics, gets paid, and stays anonymous. That's exactly how he likes it. The low-profile job suits Po because he has a wealthy father, but the two of them don't get along. Po cut ties with his family a long time ago and now supports himself independently. The reason? His father made Po's mother miserable when she was alive, so Po has never forgiven him for that.

Growing up, Po had a complicated relationship with his sexuality. Po was attracted to men, but he kept it secret out of shame. His only outlet was online pornography, specifically the videos of Peach Lover. This hunky performer posts his sex tapes online and always keeps his mask on during the act. His co-star, the "Peach", goes unmasked. Po became a devoted fan, making very good use of the entire video catalogue.

Then, Peach Lover goes quiet for a while. When he comes back, he drops a bombshell. He broke up with the original Peach and is now looking for a replacement co-star. Po applies immediately. Never mind that he's a virgin with zero sexual experience. This is his chance to meet his favourite porn star in person, so he isn't about to pass up that opportunity!

Peach Lover actually responds and seems interested. He arranges a private meeting at a discreet location. Po shows up feeling equal parts excited and terrified. The good news is that Peach Lover looks just as attractive in person as he is on screen. He runs Po through a brief interview, asking if Po is truly comfortable on camera. He understands that not everyone wants to star in a sex film. Po says yes without hesitating. He wants to be Peach Lover's newest co-star.

After the introductions, Peach Lover skips the small talk and gets straight to business. He wants to test their physical chemistry in the bedroom. Things heat up fast. Bow chicka bow wow! Then, in the middle of everything, Peach Lover's mask accidentally slips off. Po finds himself staring at Sasom, one of the most recognizable faces in mainstream drama. It turns out Peach Lover isn't just an adult entertainer. He's a legitimate celebrity actor who shoots sex films on the side for fun.

Sasom panics and kicks Po out. Later, he shows up at Po's place to explain himself. Sasom makes these videos because he wants to. He enjoys the thrill and doesn't see anything wrong with it. Po respects that. In fact, finding out that his favourite porn star is secretly a famous actor has only made Sasom a million times hotter. Po agrees to keep the secret. They keep meeting up and keep getting intimate. Around Po, Sasom likes that he doesn't have to wear the mask. He can leave the Peach Lover persona at the door and just be himself.

Peach Lover is basically softcore porn. Instead of making a BL drama, the creators rubbed their hands together and said, "Let's shoot a porno!" Every episode is packed with risqué content. Expect lots of thrusting, groping, and butt cheek licking. Yes, he licks the other guy's ass! Oh my goodness! Some of it looks so awkward that you'll laugh out loud, but the sheer volume of sex scenes will also leave you shell-shocked. If there's ever a Guinness World Record for the most NC scenes in a BL series, Peach Lover is winning that title.

Peach Lover has a truly impressive talent for oversexualizing everything. It always finds an opportunity to make a moment sexier, hornier, and freakier. Even the most ordinary scenes will turn into a raunchy porn situation. Sasom could be eating a normal breakfast, but Po will saunter over to seduce him. WHIP OUT THAT SAUSAGE. LEMME SCRAMBLE YOUR EGGS. The dialogue is equally shameless, such as this classic: "Every time you're inside me, I'm truly happy." Wow, the writing is almost Shakespearean! Peach Lover never stops with the over-the-top eroticism. The entire series just feels like gay smut with no plot.

Unfortunately, there IS a plot. And it's the worst part of Peach Lover. Any time the series tries to tell a story, I instantly lose interest. What's going on with the ex-boyfriend…? What the hell is happening with the evil father…? Don't ask me for details, because the writing is so garbage that I tuned out and never tuned back in. The last few episodes actually cut back on the couple's physical intimacy to focus more on the story. Worst decision ever. Peach Lover is only good at writing smut. Those are the only enjoyable scenes. It's absolutely dogshit in writing any form of serious drama.

As expected from a pageant winner, Sasom's actor (Ki) is so comfortable on camera. He has no problem showing off his amazing body in many shirtless scenes. Oddly enough, I think Sasom's hottest moment is when he wears that blue hoodie. Naked Sasom? Sure, admiring him from a distance. Blue hoodie Sasom? Come closer and ruin me! His co-star (Poom) is also a cutie. Both leads deserve props for having the confidence to film those gutsy sex scenes. That said, Poom's acting is pretty stiff. While Ki's performance is passable, Poom struggles to emote convincingly.

The other couple, In and Meen, bring even more bad acting to the series. If I had my way, their entire storyline would end up on the cutting room floor. Something else I'd eliminate? Fuck that AI bullshit. Peach Lover uses it shamelessly. I don't wanna sit through your ugly AI-generated image slideshow! I don't wanna listen to your AI-powered voiceover explaining how peaches symbolize sexual liberation. These unnecessary scenes add nothing of value. Using AI slop makes your production look cheap, undermining the human work that went into creating the rest of the series.

Despite its many flaws, Peach Lover is so fucking bad that it becomes kinda entertaining. The oversexualization of everything. The comedically bad acting. The scene where Po looks at the camera and bites into a peach while Sasom licks his ass. OMG, it's like I'm watching a hilariously bad parody of some raunchy porno. I dunno, maybe I cope with crappy BL dramas by finding humour in absurd places. In the past, I've watched some godawful series that bored me to tears. At least Peach Lover amused me here and there. I'm sorry, but this trainwreck is a guilty pleasure!
