2025 will be another excellent year for new BL dramas, movies, and anime series. Fans can look forward to various projects from countries like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Did you know that GMMTV, one of the leading studios in the industry, has dedicated almost the entire year to making BL series or GL series? They realized what was popular with fans and said no more love stories about straight couples for 2025. That's kind of iconic, am I right?
This year marks an important year for LGBTQ+ rights, considering same-sex marriage officially becomes legal in Thailand at the start of 2025. Thailand is now one of the rare countries in Asia, after Taiwan, where this becomes law. Expect marriages and proposals to become a natural part of conversations in Thai BL dramas, which is always a welcomed development. Another country, Nepal, has unfortunately stalled some of the rights granted to married LGBTQ+ couples. This development shows the difficulty in the fight for equality, so don't take anything for granted.
As new dramas come out weekly, I'll update the list of 2025 BL series that have premiered so far. This list will refresh as more shows are completed throughout the year. Let's hope we get lots of BL in the future!

The anime market hasn't seen too many BL projects in recent years. Sadly, studios aren't taking risks and capitalizing on the huge demand for BL anime. I promise you there are many anime fans who want to watch BL, but the creators just aren't focusing on this genre. I sincerely hope we'll see some new BL anime in 2025.

At the start of 2025, there was a lot of buzz around Our Youth, a popular Japanese BL series that captured fans' imagination with its mature high school love story. It's one of my favourites as well! Since the bar is already set so high, let's hope this year continues to bring many other new BL dramas from Japan.

When It Rains, It Pours (ふったらどしゃぶり) is a Japanese BL series. One of the leads is Asahi Ito, who previously appeared in A Man Who Defies the World of BL. His co-star, Jun Muto, has a supporting role in the live-action remake of Given.
Korean BL 2025
Korean BL dramas are growing in popularity, especially in 2025. Last year saw a record-breaking number of new series, including hits like Love in the Big City. There are also many projects from small indie studios, particularly vertically filmed dramas. It will be interesting to see what projects emerge this year.

See Your Love (看見愛) is a Taiwanese BL series about a wealthy business heir and his caregiver. The lead hires a new personal assistant, who happens to be deaf.

Last Meal Universe (อาหารมื้อสุดท้ายก่อนโลกกลายเป็นทางด่วนอวกาศ) is an upcoming Thai BL series. One of the leads, Ritz, has small roles in Love Mechanics (2022) and After Sundown (2023). The original story is a novel by Rangsimant. It is made by Very Good Company.
Ossan's Love Thailand
Ossan's Love Thailand (รักนี้ให้ "นาย") is a Thai BL series. It is the remake of the famous Japanese BL drama, Ossan's Love Japan. The leads are Earth and Mix, well-known for their roles in A Tale of Thousand Stars and Moonlight Chicken.

Perfect 10 Liners (สายรหัสเทวดา) is a Thai BL series. This drama is made by GMMTV. The story is about a university romance. The leads include Book and Force, the stars of Enchante and A Boss and a Babe.
