2025 will be another excellent year for new BL dramas, movies, and anime series. Fans can look forward to various projects from countries like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Did you know that GMMTV, one of the leading studios in the industry, has dedicated almost the entire year to making BL or GL series? They realized what was popular with fans and said no more love stories about straight couples for 2025. That's kind of iconic, am I right?
This year marks an important year for LGBTQ+ rights, considering same-sex marriage officially becomes legal in Thailand at the start of 2025. Thailand is now one of the rare countries in Asia, after Taiwan, where this becomes law. Expect marriages and proposals to become a natural part of conversations in Thai BL dramas, which is always a welcomed development. Another country, Nepal, has unfortunately stalled some of the rights granted to married LGBTQ+ couples. This development shows the difficulty in the fight for equality, so don't take anything for granted.
Overall, 2025 looks promising for the BL genre. As new projects come out weekly, I'll update the list of BL series that have premiered so far. This list will refresh as more shows are completed throughout the year. Let's hope we get lots of BL in the future!

The anime market hasn't seen too many BL projects in recent years. Sadly, studios aren't taking risks and capitalizing on the huge demand for BL anime. I promise you there are many anime fans who want to watch BL, but the creators just aren't focusing on this genre. I sincerely hope we'll see some new BL anime in 2025.

When It Rains, It Pours (ふったらどしゃぶり) is a Japanese BL series. One of the leads is Asahi Ito, who previously appeared in A Man Who Defies the World of BL. His co-star, Jun Muto, has a supporting role in the live-action remake of Given.
Korean BL 2025
Korean BL dramas are growing in popularity, especially in 2025. Last year saw a record-breaking number of new series, including hits like Love in the Big City. There are also many projects from small indie studios, particularly vertically filmed dramas. It will be interesting to see what projects emerge this year.

Thai BL 2025
Thai BL series are still very popular in 2025 with dozens of new projects. As always, GMMTV is the industry leader. The largest BL studio is committed to bringing new BL and GL titles in 2025, which I am extremely excited about.
